Art asked me about our farm a few days ago.

Jill took this picture last night.
It's a little corner of it.Taken just off the driveway. I always think the spot where she was standing would be a great spot for a house. I could handle this view from my kitchen window.
The sun was setting and it shows the haze, but I love it.
Had to share.

I did it. I made the call.

Valerie you should be very proud if me.
Or know that I just get tired of the sharp pain when I try to brush my teeth, pick up a book, or turn a door knob....or the remote! Pushing the button on the remote sends a jolt up my arm. I am such a wuss!

I have a PT appointment on Thursday after work.

Trying to talk my hubby into taking me.

I always get totally lost in the hospital.

I have no sense of direction.

It amuses him.

One of my kiddos in Chicago for a few days.

Ok. This kiddo is 20.
So not a kid.
Still.
Hard for me to say yes when she asked to go.

But I couldn't say no.
That would make me the mean mom.
She is 20 for cripes sake.

She is grown up.

But I will still worry.
Heck, if I live to be 100 I will still worry

Music Monday

My last few Mondays have been oldies, needed to get back to this century!

Guys Like Me by Eric Church

(love how the play thing is right on his nose! lol)

My son went to the local produce auction the other night.

He spent $4.50. He got two watermelons, about ten tomatoes, and a box of green bell peppers.

A big box of peppers.

48 geen bell peppers!

Took us about an hour to get them chopped and packaged for the freezer.

We are not big green pepper people. We like them on pizza and in fajitas.
I figure we are set for about 10 years!

Friday Funny

Of course we ALL know the best cheese comes from Wisconsin!
But these California commercials crack me up.

Thursday, July 26, 2007

My PA has referred me to physical therapy for my arm.

I don't want to go! My friend,Marianne, is a Physical Terrorist (and no that is not a typo!). She says I should go, because its not all torture (hmmm. so that means partial torture?).

So I have been putting it off. Other options are cortisone shots. (I have heard how awful they are, and my PA doesn't think its a good idea since I have tennis elbow (outer arm) and golfers elbow (inner arm) as well as the inside of my wrist and back of my hand. Not exactly nice fleshly meat there to stick a needle in. ) Or surgery. Since the only two times in my life I have ever been put under, waking me up was a problem. So unless its necessary, its not going to happen. Or rethinking my job. I love my job. Its not a great job, but its a paycheck, I have a nice boss and great coworkers, and its 9 to 3, better than bankers hours.

When the nurse called me to make the appointment, I said it was a bad time. And I would call her back. Hey I wasn't lying. It was a bad time. Of course a week later and I still haven't called back to schedule it. . Yup. I know it!

In other news!

I haven't gotten a DOT letter in weeks. Yay! Maybe "my" lawyer's letter did the trick.
I still check the Wisc Court Acess Website everyday, just to make sure I am not on it.

And on the serious side:

Remember last year when the kid from Weston killed his principle?
His trial starts this week.
I am not defending what he did.
But it looks like this kid had an awful life. Abused by his parents and step parents, who all seem to be very proud of the fact they abused him.
His pastor and wife and his youth group tried to help him, but his "family" put a stop to that.
He was threatend, harrassed, and abused at school. Teachers looked the other way.
No wonder the kid snapped.
Obviously the system failed this boy.
The principal was not the only victim.
Heartbreaking.

Since I am dissing Blogger.....

(If it disappears tomorrow, you know the blogger police have had enough!)

How come when I mess up the word verification thing, it gives me another, MUCH LONGER word??

"Word" may be too kind.

It's more like the cat wandered across the keyboard.

I hate that!

I hate word verification in general.

The gibberish that mocks me.

I mean, I don't like making you guys type in that junk either,

buts its better than .

I hate when Blogger is Dumb!

I had my interview post edited all cute with color, more yacking, and a dancing banana.

Blogger ate my edited post.

Maybe it will show up later.

I am not doing it again.

Ok, will add a banana just so we can all be happy.

Ahh...much better.

So here are the rules that are supposed to go with the interview post.

1. Leave me a comment saying "Interview me."
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your blog with a post containing your answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Me being interviewed by Art

Art: Linda, you were a Stephen Minister. Other than the fact that you tended to get too attached to your care receivers, what did you learn from, or how did you benefit from, your time in the Stephen Ministry?

Me: Most Importantly, I learned that people don't need someone to fix their problems. They need someone to listen and to sincerely care. Someone they can trust.

Art: You own a farm. What is that like? And don't you ever wish you lived in the suburbs and didn't have worries about cows and fences and such?

Me: Its 254 acres. About half is pasture and wood, the other half is corn, hay, and oats. It has a nice dairy barn at our place, but its been unused since we sold our milk cows almost 5 years ago. We have springs and wildlife, "spitting rock" and amazing veiws. Also a dog and a whole bunch of barn cats. Its got some neat old log buildings scattered around. And my husband does most of the cow and fence junk, I just blog about it.

There are two houses. My inlaws live in one, they can stay rent free as long as they want. (We bought the farm on land contract.) We live in the less desirable of the two houses. My kitchen is the farm's original log cabin. I think my kids are the 6th generation here. (my husband is more up on his family history than I am.) The house had lots of character and family history; It also had bugs, rodents and is not structurally sound.I would like to build someday. But I also know math. not enough money coming in for farm payments, tuition, food, and house payments. Renovations would be costly too, so in the meantime we wait.

I doubt I could handle the suburbs. I don't think I have ever even been to the suburbs! I have seen them on tv though. I would like living in a small town. Then I could walk to work and would never have to drive again. I hate driving. We did look at some houses a few years ago. But I know my husband would hate moving. The family farm and history are very important to him, not to mention the deer hunting.

Art: You say you are a proud liberal. What, to you, does it mean to be a liberal?

Me: (Boy Art, you might be sorry you asked this one.)
**in no particular order**
*It means I am with Russ Feingold on this
censure thing. (click on the link if you don't know my fellow Wisconsinite and Senator.)
* I think when Clinton lied he pretty much hurt himself, not the whole country. And history tells us Kennedy had the same problem, the press just didn't reveal it.
*I am pro choice
*I think something should be done with Health Care in America. I am also realistic and know it's not doing to happen because there is way too much money in the insurance and pharmacutical industries. Health care is one of the reasons we sold our cows. We could not afford the premiums and the huge deductables.
* I think the war in Iraq was a mistake. I have thought that from the beginning.
*I think term "the war on terror" is simply preying on our fears. I know there is always a threat, but we need to be realistic. According to the CDC, Drunk drivers kill someone every 31 minutes (on average) and injure someone every 2 minutes in the US. Cancer is expected to kill morethan 550,000 Americans (american cancer society website) in 2007.

*I am pretty patriotic. I still stand up for the flag and sing along with the Star Spangled Banner. I and I got a lump in my throat this morning when the Iowa National Guard rolled though my hometown, they were on their way home from Ft McCoy, a pitstop after a tour of Iraq.
*I think Natalie Mayes in a moron, but she had every right to not like President Bush and to voice her opinion.
*I think if gay people want to make a commitment and get married, more power to them and give them benefits for Heaven's sake.
*I can't stand to listen Ruch Limbaugh or Paul Harvey.
*I think well-to-do Americans should pay their fair share of taxes.
*And oil companies should too. Their record profits are a crime.

*Live Earth was a good thing, I didn't watch a minute of it. Al Gore still uses more energy then a small town, he is a hypocrite. But we can't all be hypocrites. Each of us can do our part. . Even if it's just a little it would make a huge difference.
*I think what happened after Katrina was a disgrace. There is still so much to do. Too bad politics is more important that people lives.
* I know some people will always cheat the system, but that doesn't mean we can not help the ones that do need help.
*I don't care if someone wants to own a gun. I do think they should be resistered and licensed. You have to have a licence to drive a car.
*And I hate then the NRA calls my husband early in a Saturday morning to tell him "All the damn liberals want to take away all your guns and your rights" That's crap. There might be some that do, but not all. And I would have loved to see the face of the guy in the other end when I leaned close to the phone and said "tell him your married to one."

*And I know there are a alot of people that will disagree with me. But I also believe God didn't put us here to judge each other, thats His job.

Art: As a parent, what do you worry most about? What is the least of your worries?

Most: I worry my kids grew up too sheltered. Country kids from a small town, over protected. Also the basics are they eating right? driving to fast? doing well in school?

Least: I think we are doing well as parents. I have never gotten a call from the police or the school (ok there was that once, but they wanted to know if I would be on the school board.). We get compliments on our kids a lot, teacher conferences are a breeze, so far so good.

On college move in day (for my oldest) there was a program for the students and parents. The acting dean told us to "Trust the foundation you have built. You have raised them well. Now you have to trust them and let them go" Great speech, I took it heart. I think my kids have strong foundations. They also know they can come to us, anytime about anything. And we don't promise we won't be disappointed or angry. But we will always be there for them.

Art: What's so great about blogging, anyway? What have you gained or what have you had to give up to be a sucessful blogger?

Me: Hey! What's with the two part questions? This is more than 5!

Blogging is great because it gives me a change to share, to vent, to make something that is green and pink. I have learned a little (ok! VERY little) about html.

I have gained a great friend (Hi Valerie!). Where else could I share news of my kids, my frustrations with insurance and dancing bananas? ! Actually, I have found more than a few blogging buddies. When I need a prayer or some advice. It can often be found just a post or email away.

Given up? Not much. Maybe a little privacy. Some spare time.

Not fair

Tom, my co-worker whose wife has alzheimers and cancer, and I were just talking.

He told me the nursing home will have a birthday party for her (in a few weeks).
He is going to invite his sister-in-law and his nephews and thier wives...
their only family...
to her last birthday party.
He was so choked up, his voice was breaking.
We were both all teary.

When he left I just cried. I know he did too.

It's not fair.
They were going to retire and travel.
He tells me all the time, he wished I had known her when she was healthy.
I wish I had too.

Class Reunion/Music Monday

Today, they just go hand in hand.

We had a pretty good time Saturday night. I wasn't really looking forward to my husband's 25th reunion, maybe thats the key: I didn't expect to have a good time.

They had a nice turnout. About 35 from a class of 80-some.
They didn't have a formal meal, and round tables of 8 instead of the long banquet tables, much better for socializing. Entertainment was a few silly games and trivia, 80's music in the background.

*I decided I probably never would have married my husband if I had gone to high school with him. Quite the stories.
*A few teachers showed up, the CC/track coach sat with us. How come I felt guilty drinking in front of him?? He wasn't my teacher or coach. and I am an adult, but that evil-eye-look...geesh!!
*I like my hubby's high school friends and they haven't changed.
Paul. is a big old teddy bear, he gets a few beers in him, and just gets mellow. But never seems to forget giving me a ride home on his motorcycle one night and leaving tire tracks on the sidewalk. (And my room mate got in trouble for the "hoodlum" boys she hung around with). His wife wasn't able to come, which was good (did I say that??), I don't think she is not too fond of the old stories Paul tells about me. (Paul was in the AF when we got married, would have been in the wedding party if he had been around.)
Sam. Hillarious. He whines and complains and he cracks me up. He had some great one-liners and he gossips like a girl. He read scriptures at our wedding. (Was sure he would rot in hell, he tried to tell me only preists could read the Bible in church. I assured him we were Methodists and we did whatever we wanted.)
Tod. is very nice, his wife is a doll. His while family is nice, his mom is like Paula Deen, without the Georgia drawl. (Tod was an usher in our wedding. )
China. The guy they loved to pick on all through school. Took me years to find out his real name. He was in our wedding. And tried to tell me Saturday night, that if Allison was 20. Scott and I "Had" to get married. Was funny watching him try to do math in his head, too many Budlights were slowing down the turning wheels ..I assure him it was ok. Allison was born 2 years after we got married...and I was not pregnant for 2 years!
Diane. We always say we should keep in touch, need to get better about this! She is so nice. Her mom lives not too far from us.

I got to talk to a few other classmates and spouses, I was a little socicable and mingled because I can only take so many FFA stories =D.

All in all, it was a good night and we didn't get home til 2am!

I will never complain about a gift again.

Did you see what Charles got Camilla for her 60th birthday?
If not, check it out
here.

It's almost as good as getting a manure spreader for Mother's Day!

The Eagle Has Landed

38 years ago, Apollo 11 landed on the moon.

You can read more
here

A pretty awesome feat.
Not that I remember, I was 3.

Speaking of the moon...on July 20,1984 Vanessa Williams was asked to resign as Miss America when nude pictures of her were published.

Today is also Sally Anne Howes' birthday. Remember her? Does the name Truly Scrumptious ring a bell?

Did you know Ian Flemming wrote Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?
Yup, the same Ian Flemming that wrote Bond.
How's that for trivia?

Today I covered the first moon landing, Penthouse, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
How's that for ecclectic?

=D

I had this Song stuck in my head all day.

Now YOU can too!

=)

(sure; thank me later)

YAY!

The kids' car is not dead, just a misfired sparkplug that made the transmission dumb.

Of course I know "dumb" is not the technical term. (Cars are not my thing, but if you need your pulsators rebuilt, I can help. I don't use the correct terms about those either. The service guys may not think so, but "do-hicky" and "round thing" are perfectly good terms!) But adorable-chubby-cheeked-Fred-the-Mechanic explained it to the hubby. Hubby was happy too, even decided to replace the back tires, which won't be in til tomorrow. Hum, maybe we should make Al go pick up the car tomorrow? Of course if I think chubby cheeks on Fred are cute, she won't.

Hoping to get another year (at least) out of this car.
It will get Aaron back and forth to class, since he will be taking high school and college classes this year, he needs something. He wanted a truck. Oh well. When he gets a good job, he can buy one. =)

Sorry Honey

I have a new love.

They are so yummy!

Melt in your mouth.

Buttery.

Rich chocolate and just a touch of mint.

Heaven in a little paper baggie =)

But I guess there is room for
you and the Mint Milanos.

As long as you don't
eat the last one!
Love,
me

Random stuff

* Another horrific accident in my neck of the woods yesterday =( Please people, wear the seatbelts! No one sets out to be in an accident.

* Steff, the rain your promised almost got here. The southern part of the county got 8 inches of rain...over night! More than a gully washer. Pretty much a whole village is trashed, but all residents were safely evacuated. Although, I heard there were several propane tanks and campers floating down the Mississippi this morning. We are in the northwest part of the county and we got a little shower, not even enough to make a puddle.

* I have decided to quit watching the local news. A teenager killed his sister, a mom tortured her newborn to death, another missing college student, etc, more than I can handle. Really, I don't need to hear every graphic detail, neither does my 12 year old.

* Allison decided to go to a movie with her friends for her birthday last night. (Evan Almighty) She got a whole birthday supper when they stopped to pick up one friend. Lasagna, and pie ...even had a candle in it. With the whole family.

* Maybe we can have her party at home tonight. Ice Cream cake...we debated diving into it last night when she was gone...but that would have been mean. But if she goes out tonight, the ice cream cake is fair game!

* Apparently the kids' car is dying. A slow, sad, expensive transmission problem. Its been a good car. They put a lot of miles on it. It took out a St Bernard, twice a day CC practices, and has gone to more high school dances than me! Will be sad to see it croak. (not to mention, replacing it is not in the budget!)

* My husband's high school class reunion is this weekend. I need to shop! We always go to his reunions.(He did go alone to his 5 year one, Allison and I were still in the hospital. The nurses even felt sorry for me cuz I was alone on a Saturday night...hey at least I wasn't working! LOL) I have never been to one of mine. And have no desire to go. I was glad to get out of high school...why would I want to go back???

Happy Birthday Allison!

The big 20 has finally arrived.

How about a little trip down memory lane?

(oh the slide thing didnt take long, compared to the 81 hours of labor!)

Monday, Monday *ba-da-da-da-da-da*

I got something from "my" (hired by the insurance company) attorney. A cc of a letter he sent to the DOT, crossing my fingers this one will do the trick. But I know it probably won't.

We are missing out on some much needed rain this morning, it is drifting south. The corn is beginning to tassel. So hoping the rain drifts back up!

I think I have my hubby hooked on my favorite radio station, it's out of Dubuque and plays 70's and 80's stuff. At least he didn't turn it down when I cranked it up yesterday. We took my car over to the lake and swapped it out for the truck and camper. Those girls had A LOT of stuff in the camper, not even room for them....they slept in the tent.

We got new plat books at work. The first issue since we bought our farm. There we are in black and white. It says 266.3 acres, really its more like 254, who's counting?? Oh and I have to pay my property taxes this week too.

*For Music Monday I was gonna play the Mamas & the Papas...but didn't want that stuck in anyone's head....this is much better....big-hair-great-song-bad-video is much better!

Oh I see you there, singing along, taping your toes..... =)

Sunday, July 15, 2007

Everyone is home safe and sound tonight.

My campers are home.
'Grandma' fell in the lake, I know its mean, but I can't help laughing picturing that!

Aaron is back from NC
Youth 2007 was great, but the Creation Museum was awesome (I heard)!

Maybe this mom will sleep tonight since everyone is home.

Was kind of a rollercoaster week here.

Lots of ups and downs, and my arm is killing me.
Advil doesn't make a dent any more.
Heat helps but when its 80 degrees, I don't wanna be curled up with a heating pad.

So...yippee skippy..today is Saturday. I was so ready for Saturday.
I thought I would bake some cookies.*
And read my book.**

Yah. Right. (rolling eyes with sarcasm here)

*First the cookie disaster.
I have very buttery, flatter than pancakes cookies.
Only one sheet of cookies, my first thought was it happened because of the humidity.
So I patted the rest in a pan and made bars out of them.
After a few hours of wondering what went wrong, I decided it had to be the flour.
It doesn't work to double the recipe for chocolate chip cookies when you forgot to double the flour.
They look awful.
But really, I didn't need cookies anyway!

** After lunch I grabbed my book,
Plopped down on the bed.
I think I read a page.
Fell asleep.
I still have a crease on my cheek from the book.
Its a good book, should have held my interest.
Just can't seem to concentrate on anything.

good grief.

Oh! Then Allison calls.
It must be in the air.
Or the genes.
No charcoal in the camper.
Cooking out over the campfire works.
Pudgy Pie exploded all over her favorite sweatshirt.
And it rained, poured, at the camp ground this morning.

'myspaceBut hey, I have to remember it could be worse! 20 years ago today I was in labor. My doc told me to walk. I was distracted and ended up face to face with a skunk. In my defendse, I was huge, overdue, it was 90 degrees, and I thought it was the cat. At least I looked closer before I picked it up. We both were a little surprised and started walking backwards. Thank God it did not spray me. Wonder what the snotty ob nurse would have thought of that!

Sadness =(

Late yesterday afternoon a man from our small town was killed in a motorcycle accident. I remember a few years ago he showed us a house.
He is the brother-in-law of one of our youth group leaders. (Who decided at the last minute not to go to Youth 2007 in NC, but to headed to LiFest in Oshkosh instead. At least he is closer to home.) I can't help but worry about his mother-in-law too, at church last week I was thinking how tough she looked.

This is my mom.
Today is her birthday!
I love this picture of her.
Tiny flowers in her hair.
She used to tell me how the boys would dip the ends of her braids in the ink wells at school.
She was the total girly girl in 1945!
But she could find her way into trouble too!
At her wake two women came up to me.
(She passed away six years ago last week)
They were sisters that lived up the street, a few years younger that my mom and her sisters. They told me how they always looked up to "the T girls"
One said "We idolized your mom and your aunts"
The other said "Yes, they were so glamorous!"
I had never thought of my mom as glamorous. Although I had seen old pictures and heard some wild stories. I only knew her as my mom. A farm wife, who would spend time with her friends and neighbors, eat watermelon and spitt the seeds, doing crafts, making her yummy strawberry-marshmallow dessert, gardening barefoot, and hunting night crawlers with her grandchildren.
She told me to make sure she was buried barefoot, no pantyhose either!
I made sure of that.
Happy Birthday Mom
I love you
and I miss you!

Ten Great Memories from your Childhood.

I hadn't seen this one before, I'm game.

1. My dad teaching me how to tie a tie. He gashed his fingers, needed some help. It has been a useful skill. I directed a fashion show in college, later worked in a men's clothing store, and getting my teenage son out the door for prom...never thought it was a something I would do more than than that one Sunday morning.

2. Playing softball with my brothers and neighbors. We always had fun, we played in the pasture and used dried out cow pies for bases. Sometime the boys would swap out the dried up ones for fresher...ewww, but always good for a laugh!

3. When our moms would join in those softball games. And they were not easy outs!

4. My mom and her sisters were very close. I loved growing up with my cousins in my life. Spending holidays togther and finding excuses to get together for picnics.

5. My grandma made us confetti angle food cake with sticky marshmallow frosting every birthday.

6. Babysitting my nephew a lot. He called me mom til he went to kindergarten.

7. Sitting on the bathtub watching my dad shave. He always sang "Cattle Call" when he shaved.

8. Building forts in the haw mow and getting into A LOT of trouble for it.

9. Hanging out with my "army brat" neighbors. We were in high school their dad was stationed in Korea, they lived with their grandma (my neighbor). We would sit upstairs playing Monopoly, they would smoke and their grandma would yell uo the stairs "you girls aren't smoking up there are you?" and they would holler back, so sweetly "of course not Grandma! They would blow smoke rings, which always impressed me (lol) , but I never took a puff. Yuck! We would eat toast after school with strawberry rhubarb jam. And they share make-up with me...my dad didnt think much of that!

10. Riding the school bus. It was a great place to talk and we played euchre. Boys on the bus weren't like real boys, they were more like brothers and would deck anyone for ya!

11. Laying awake on Christmas eve. Watching for Santa to go past my window, I knew he would have to go right past my window, from neighbor Kim's house to ours.

12. Miss Nichols, my second grade teacher. She had long hair and wore mini skirts and I thought she was the coolest teacher ever!

OK !OK! I know, that is more than 10, but I was on a roll =)

What's good to eat while camping?

My daughter and 5 college friends are spending the weekend at a county park for her birthday!
Time to make a list and hit the piggly wiggly.

So far we've got the basics:
smores (smores are #1 for a reason!)
cereal
burgers and brats w/ buns/ketchup/etc
chips
pop and water
watermelon
what else would be good?

Pandora Radio

I just discovered it.
(maybe everyone else has know about it for a while?
but remember I am old and not "with it"...see? I even still say "with it"...like the Brady Bunch!)
You can listen online.
For free.
You type in an artist or song you like. It plays that and similar music.
No commercials.
And so far, I haven't found any evidence of spyware.
(despite it's name!)

Since Art told me to save earth shattering for today....

Is this earth shattering?
On my way to work this morning, I stopped to put some very expensive gas in my car.
Filling up at the next pump was a big truck and trailer.
A Wisconsin DOT truck.

(gasp!)
So I was looking at the signs.
Wondering if there were any super duper guard rail posts in there.
Then the guy starts talking to me.
Oh Man! is this it?
'myspace
Is this how they will find me?
Since in my worst nightmares I am practically a fugitive now
'myspace !

Nope.
Ok, I haven't been sleeping well.
Took me a minute to relaize the guy is flirting with me.
Yeah, well... I was a little foggy.
And its been a LONG time since I got hit on!

Was earth shattering for me!
haha!

My house is so quiet.

It's very unusal for me to have some time to myself.
I tried crocheting. Bad,very bad.
So, I cleaned the bathroom.
Did laundry.
Ate cereal for supper.
Sorted through some neglected piles of mail.

Fed the fish.

Will head to bed soon with a book.
Gosh.
I am dull.

Yesterday was a pretty rotten day for me.
But I have to say, I have some pretty awesome online friends, and even an online "stranger", who gave me instant message encouragement and some thoughtful emails.
Thanks!
I needed that!
=)
ps -My hubby and girls are camping. I drove over to see them, chow down on some bbq chicken, watermelon, and taco dip. yummmo. They had been swimming and a fish bit my hubby...how weird is that? Need to find out when he had his last tetnus shot.
pss (pps? psII?) -I don't like driving home in the dark, with road construction, detours and those back road shortcuts that turn out to be not so short! ahhh summer in Wisconsin!

Another letter from the DOT

Either "my" lawyer hasn't contacted them yet, or they are ignoring it.
He was supposed to tell them not to have any more contact with me.
Yadayada "the insurance company represents me" isn't working now.
But I got another letter, this one is the best one yet.
This one threatens me with "garnishing any future state tax refunds"
And taking my driving privileges and ability to register a vehicle for 20 years.
Yep, I did a double take too.
20 years.
(can they do that?)

So, my friends, what do I do?
Wait them out and have them hunt me down?
Screwing with my credit and my name?
Or cling to some faith in my car insurance.
And their legal mumbo jumbo?
(who, as God is my witness, will no longer be my insurance company after this is done one way or the other)
I have been sticking it out for 7 months.
The entire accident didn't take 7 seconds.

So can you tell? I have shed more tears over this bickering between the insurance company and the DOT than I have over my injuries and guilt.

It's just so frickin' frustrating!

Maybe I just need some chocolate?
Or a glass of wine (whine isn't working! lol) or two!

or a good night sleep?
Maybe its time I tap into my savings and be done with it?

Music Monday

I am on an old song kick. I liked Faith Hill back when she first started, she was so cute. Now she tries too hard to be sexy. (not that she does a bad job at that...just I liked her old stuff better, when seeing her videos didn't make me want to change the channel!)

SPLAT
seek
pray
learn
act
teach.
That's the acronym for Youth 2007, A youth gathering for the UMC. Its held every 4 years. This summer, it is in Greensboro, NC.
My son along with 11 other teenagers and two chaperones took off after church this morning, heading towards Greensboro! (With a stop to a Creation Museum near Cincinnati, and some hiking in the Smokey Mountains along the way)
Praying for safe travels, and lots of fun and learning!
I read several UM blogs and haven't seen it mentioned. Anyone else going?
There was supposed to be one more chaperone. Our youth pastor will be flying down to meet them later in the week. Her nephew, Mike, was killed in an ATV accident on Friday...his 23rd birthday. He was throw from the ATV into the road, then run over by a car.
Please pray for Mike and his grieving family, and also the driver of the car. =(

What Are You Passionate About?

I saw this question a week or so ago.
Thought about it.
Tried to blog about it.
Learned I am so not passionate.

I am opinionated.
And as my side bars says I am not stubborn. I'm right. (hehe)
Except I am left.
(I am also easily distracted)

Anyway....

I read this article.

I would like you to read it too. (It will take you 2, 3 minutes tops)
I thought about posting a quote from the article, but that wouldn't do it justice.

Brian Pate is passionate about what he believes.
And he is doing something about it.
Yay! for Brain Pate.

And I have to say: I agree with him.
You won't catch me biking across America.
But he made me realize we can each do something.
Even if its just passing along his story.

Help

We are planning a little care package for a hometown Marine.
He is the brother of Steph and-step brother of Tilah
(Allison's friends that were killed sophmore year)
He is in Fallujah, and its about 120 degrees.
Here is what we have so far:

lip balm
crystal light to go packets
lifesavers and gum

Very lame care package isn't it? What else can we put in there?

Got a call from a customer when it was almost time to leave today.

Not unusual. We close at 3, sometimes one will call and ask me to wait.

Not a problem.
I know this man was driving his motor cycle last weekend.
Hit a dog
The dog didn't make it.
Brian and his wife did.
When I saw him, I almost cried.
He said he looked great compared to his wife.
She was thrown from the bike.
He said her face took the most of it.
Brian stayed with the bike.
But his whole body was a huge scab.
He looked so...umm...awful.
He said it hurt so bad he couldn't stand it.

There was another couple riding with them.
They said seeing it happen was the worst thing ever.
I can't imagine!

He said they were lucky though, no broken bones.
I would say very lucky.
But they could use some prayers.
They have help milking, good thing, neither of them can set foot in the barn til they heal.

My kids even yell at me when its on so I don't miss it.

(Even though I personally think fruit by the foot is icky,
my husband likes everyone to eat it,
keeps him working)

Chasing steers is never fun

Even worse when it is 90 degrees.
And humid.
They actually went along pretty well.
They followed my oat-toating hubby all the way home.
But I got to meet my part time neighbor.
He spends a few days a week out here.
In the peace, away from the city.
He enjoyed the steers in his yard all day.
They enjoyed his shade.
(They probably left some fertilizer too!)

I am thinking they should be steaks.
Burgers.
mmm

And my son got home from Lake Okoboji after they were all home.

I got a new header picture.

Its not really wide enough, but oh welll...
I love this picture. We were on our way home one night, about a week ago, and the sunset was spectacular!
So I called my daughter, told her to go see it.
She got some pictures.

For you, the summer is all about possibilities. And you're not going to be tied down. This is the time for you to embark on an epic road trip, with no ultimate destination in mind. You know you'll have a ton of crazy adventures... at least until you run out of cash!

Kinda of interesting, 'cept for the fact I am freaked out being in the car now!
If you want, you can go to my google page, linked over on the left (above the kissy bear) and check you some memes about me. Feel free to do them too. And excuse my google page, I am still trying to figure it out.
