I think housework is the reason most women go to the office. ~Heloise Cruse

This cartoon has nothing to do with the post. I just thought it was funny. :o)

It is a dead Friday at work.

I went for a walk last night. I saw a raccoon, a rabbit, two transport planes flying low over my head, blue birds, and an oriole ...so I went back to the house to get my camera. All the cool wild life was gone then :/ I did take some pictures of wildflowers and a really cute guy on a tractor :)

My tummy hurts. Usually does. I had a butcher-surgeon for routine surgery, Was almost 6 years ago...guessing its not going to get better.

That really cute tractor guy woke me up at 5 am this morning. He was going fishing with his friend. Don't any fish bite at 7:00?

Where did June go? Summer vaction is 1/3 over! Once golf and basketball camp is over for my youngest we can go do something fun. Even if it just a day trip. I would love to go to The House on the Rock, The Cave of the Mounds, or the Mississippi River Museum . All are just a short drive from home.

The kids and I are manning the local brat stand when I get off work today. Its a good little fundraiser for 4-H. Hoping my hunny is back from fishing in time to do the grilling.

Happy weekend all!

Any plans for the 4th? Do you get a long weekend?

If you are not happy here and now, you never will be. ~Taisen Deshimaru

Since I did my pet peeves. I have to give (at least) equal time to things that make me happy. Aside from the obvious (family, etc) here are some simple things that make me smile :)

1. My job. So much easier to go to work when I like it.

2. Diet Vanilla Pepsi. Even though caffiene is supposed to be off limits.

3. Making cards. It gives me the chance to be creative in little spurts. I have even sold some.

4. Recieving a compliment. Who wouldn't like this?

5. Chocolate

6. Days off. So good to turn off the alarm clock and not have to get up at 6:30

7. Cribbage and Literati. online games.

8. Getting mail.

9. Crocheting. It makes my wrist ache, so I don't do it as much as I used to.

10. Amazon.com I like browsing and getting a smiley-face box full of stuff to read.

11. Bath and Body Works Cherry Blossom Hand Lotion. Smells yummy!

12. Living in the Country. Dispite coyotes, property taxes, a bear (my husband saw a black bear on his way home from work a few weeks ago!). I like peace and quiet, fantasic views, and privacy.

13. Make-up.

14. Kittens.

15. Blogging. I like writing and reading. My favorites list is an ecclectic collection of scrappers, moms, pastors, comics, a teacher, political blogs, cooks, etc

16.HGTV.

Happy Birthday to my Sweetie!

Today is my husband's birthday. I met him on his birthday 22 years ago. A couple months later we were dating and the rest is history, so they say!

Plenty of lasagna and ice cream cake left!

Pet peeves

I decided to list some things that annoy me

My top ten pet peeves

1. Your and you're. They are not interchangable! The worst thing is when I catch myself using your instead of you're...oh wait...maybe the worst thing is when I don't know I do it! Basically all bad grammer. Sometimes I think people are trying to look dumber than they really are.

2. Wazzup.

3. Sore losers and even sorer winners. I play cribbage and literati in yahoo (lots more than I should). Many people take those games and their ratings way to seriously. It's only a game.

4. "You always ____" and "You never ____" Ok. I admit. Sometimes I do, or don't____. Often I do or don't ____. But always?? never??

5. Women that wear too much perfume. The ones that sit 2 pews away in church and are so strong it makes my head hurt.

6. Stupid Drivers. My husband doesn't like to ride with me. Cuz I call people idiots ...not all the time...only when they are idiots. And I am not a road-rage-kinda driver, I don't honk or yell. I just say it in a normal voice. Idiot.

7. People who refuse to admit they are wrong. Ever play a game of trivial pursuit with the guy that complains the answers on the cards are wrong? And always has an excuse or someone else to blame.

8. The fact that I am the only one at home and at work that has mastered the art of changing the TP roll.

9. People that think they will change my political/religious/whaever opinion by sharing theirs and tell me I am wrong. An opinion is not wrong.

10. Baggy pants, bare midriffs, thong underwear showing from too low cut pants. It is not fashion. It is gross.

11. Customer service out-sourced to foreign countries, when I need help I want the person on the other end to understand what I am saying and vice versa.

12. Customers that come in and say "Aren't any of the guys around?" I can answer your question most of the time. It cracks me up when the guys have to come in and ask me for the answer eventually anway!

13. This dang slide thing at the top of my blog. It cuts off the top of the pix. And I haven;t figure out how to move it down without messing up the dang thing.

14...how my top 10 turned in to more! Can you tell it's Monday?? :o)

Any more to add to my list?

registration

My husband and I took our oldest daughter for registration for fall sememster yesterday. The first child off to college is a big step for parents. Not to mention $ticker $hock!

But she came home so excited about school. I am excited for her. She has decided to major in English with a writing emphahsis. Not sure of a minor yet, but she has lots of time to decide that.

Besides, we still have lots of summer left to shop for college clothes and dorm room decor!

What would do? (and you dont have to answer...only to yourself)

what's your fashion style?

Your Fashion Style is Classic

You like what's stood the test of time...
Simple, well styled clothes that don't scream trendy
You stay updated and modern, but your clothes stay in style for a while
You wouldn't be caught in animal prints, fake fur, or super bright colors

Happy Father's Day

I think this is the only picture I have of me with my dad. I won't be seeing him on Father's Day, but will give him a call.

He is one of my favorites!

Ch-changes

I was needing a change in my blog.

This is pretty drastic! haha!

Blogger needs more templates!

Happy Dad's Day weekend to all the Dads out there!

The kids and I got my hubby a pressure washer.

We gave it to him early.

Pass this one on!

By ordering a free Make the Connection bracelet kit, you will be helping to advance cervical cancer education and outreach. June Bug

When my hunny work nights I hear every little noise and have a really hard time sleeping.

Last night I had a visitor. Yep. Well.... not this one, but one of his friends. (I know a real photograher would have gotten the camera out and got her own shot. But is was 2am!)

So anyway. I can hear this thing. And I figured it was a June Bug in the next room. Bugs don't usually bug me, but this was was making just enough noise to be annoying. So I got up, searched a little while, even had a tupperware bowl to put him in. (I didn't want to step on him and pop him with my bare feet.)

But I couldn't catch him. So I went back to bed.

After a while he either got tired of smacking into the walls or I was just to tired to hear him anymore.

But ALAS! at 7 am...guess who was in the shower with me. I didnt squish him there either, just something too icky about stepping on him! Crunch. Yick! If I see him tonight, I am sure I will find something to squish him with!

You call this vacation?

I took 4 days off last week. For vacation. It was a bust. We did get to Walmart for a new cd player for the kids' car...Did you know teenagers cannot survive the 15 minute drive to town with a broken cd player?

We went to the movie RV, it was kind of funny.

Got first crop hay almost done. Yeah for the round baler. I hate unloading hay. Actually I hate the snakes and the chaff.

Today after work I am taking the kids for shot. yee-haw.

Gotta have them for school and might as well get them over with.

Paging Stacy and Clinton

1. Describe your favorite article of clothing? Why is it your favorite?
*Pajamas. Means I am home and nothing to do!

2. Have you ever done something awful to your hair? What did you do?
*Tried to grow it out. When I finally got it cut so many people told me how young I looked with my hair cut.

3. Confess the worst fashion trend you ever succumbed to.
* My daughter says my crocs...then she laughed. :/

4. Are there any current or recent fashion trends do you just don't get?
* Guys with their pants falling off. Girls with too short shirts and hip hugger pants when they have the jiggly tummy roll.

5. If you were nominated by your friends and family to be on What Not to Wear, how would they describe your fashion situation?
*Stuck in jeans and sweatshirts. and oh yeah...the crocs!

Which Muppet are you?

You Are Kermit

Hi, ho! Lovable and friendly, you get along well with everyone you know.
You're a big thinker, and sometimes you over think life's problems.
Don't worry - everyone know's it's not easy being green.
Just remember, time's fun when you're having flies!

Scholarships

My daughter asked my why I didn't write about her scholarships on my blog.

I thought I did.

But apparently I did not give enough details.

The first one she got was for $100. She had to write an essay about her volunteer work during high school. Considering she forgot to write about her VIM (Volunteers in Mission trips she did ok!)

The second was for being ranked 11th is her class. A local family decided the top ten kids get most of the scholarships, so they give $200 to each the 11th and 12th ranked students (really sucks to be 13th!)

The third was more of an award. She was named "The Outstanding All-Around Student of the Class of 2006" She got $500 in cash for that. That $ will go towards a laptop.

The last was the best. Over the 4 years of college she will get $13,000. Yeah for her! Yeah for Mom & Dad too! (She said she thought every kid in the class applied for this one, I don't doubt it!) When it was announced at Graduation I got teary, so did my dad. I was clapping for her, my camera danging from my wrist. (thanks Mrs M forgetting the shot I toally missed!) People where patting my husband and I on the back. Congratulating us too on having such a great kid. :)

Ok ...enough bragging...i think!

I need book help. please.

My 40-something sister-in-law graduated from college last month. I want to get her an inspirational book as part of her gift. Any suggestions? I found Daily Steps for Godchicks by Holly Wagner, but would add another if something looks good.

I also want to get one for my nephew/godson. He graduated from high school this past weekend. I like Max Lucado, but he has so many...how do I chose?

Help!

As much as I hate to....

I am adding word verification again.

I thought blogger had this spam stuff under control.

When I woke up to 58 new comments this morning, I see it ain't so!

party news!

The graduation party went really well. We had a nice turn-out and a beautiful day. It did get a little hot late in the afternoon when the sun was beating in.

We have plenty of leftovers. Made myself a note to order the buns from somewhere else for the next party. Cakes, made by the dietary department from the nursing home when A works, were the best!

A and I will be harassed forever for being late to the party! She went to her best friends party before hers and ran a little late. I was putting up signs along the road side. The Sheriff stared at me as he drove by. I had wished the county had mowed the roadsides a little more...I had sandals on and was waiting for a snake to slither over my foot while I was stapling! lol

A big thanks to my two younger kids for all their hard work setting up and decorating for the party.

And thanks to everyone that came and send sent well wishes!

Proud Mommy

Today is the last day of school.

Awards day.

My oldest got 2 scholarships (and hoping for more at graduation tomorrow night).

She was also selected outstanding High School Student of her class.

How cool is that?!

She got a plaque and a nice fat check.

Woo hoo!

Update: At graduation last night, she received only one scholarship. But it is a great one! renewable each year for four years. Open House today. I am off to pick up cake!
