If you haven't noticed. I have been sharing some snowmen.

I collect snowmen. My kids always know what to get me for my birthday and Christmas. I take them out after Thanksgiving and leave them up through January. The worst part about the Christmas Season is taking all the decorations down and packing them up. The house is looks so bare without them. So I leave those up til the Valentine things get hauled out of the closet.

I have lots of snowman figurings, and candle holders. A few wall hangings too. And Stamps. Lots and lots of rubber stamps.

The only other things I collect are cookbooks. I read them like normal people read novels. Church cookbooks are my favorite. How could I go wrong? Everyone puts their very best recipes in those! I am always on the lookout for more. I will soon need a bigger bookcase in my kitchen.

My cookbooks are well worn. The pages with the dog-ears and splatters are very best.

I posted too soon.

This morning we have snow.

Two inches of wet, sloppy stuff.

With a lovely layer of ice underneath.

Still mud under it all.

Looks pretty.

Its perfect-fall-on-your-butt-put-the-car-in-the-ditch-snow.

Some of my best friends are flakes

All of our snow is melted here.

We have had thunderstorms
and heavy rain.

Mud.

Fog.

Yuck.

The kids got the tree up last week.
Set my snowmen out over the weekend.
Been listening to Christmas music on the radio.
Waiting for the holiday spirit to get under my skin.
Impatiently!

Smiles and Frowns

:) This is the back of the shirt the kids got at Convo last weekend. Matthew 7:8 is a great verse. On Tuesday while doing some of my regular blog-surfing I found Opie Outlaw's post , with the same verse. Cool huh? The worst part it...that also reminded me of one of the VBS songs from last summer. Now I have had that "Knock. Knock. Knocking on door...: song stuck in my head!

:( There is a little second hand store across the street from where I work. It was robbed twice this week. It kind of creeps me out, because it it so close. And it makes me mad, because they do good stuff there. They donate all their profits back to the community and local food pantries.

:) Conference last night. I have three smart, good kids. Every teacher was full of compliments for my kids. They all are on high honors.

:) Chemistry teacher made my night (heck my whole weekend!) My son was in his room chatting and I walked in. Mr W said "Is this you sister?" HAHA. Mr W needs new glasses or he sure knows how to kiss up. He told me I looked very young. Woo Hoo.

A snowflake is one of God's most fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together! ~Author Unknown

We were supposed to get 2 inches of snow last night. This is more than two inches. But it sure is pretty.

I took these from my driveway this morning.

I love the views here.

Footnote: This was our first snow, and a messy one! It started as cold rain, then changed over to snow. The kids saw a snow plow ion the ditch on the way home from school. My son said that was not very reassuring! lol

Linda needs

I saw this on Colleen's Blog:

Go to your favorite search engine, I used Google

Type in your name and the word "needs". See what you come up with. Here are some of mine:

Linda needs a new friend.
Linda needs some help with her appearance.
Linda needs a makeover. (Do you see a pattern here?)
Linda Needs · Attitude of Gratitude
Somewhere, Linda needs to find $50 or $100 each month....
Linda needs your help.
Linda needs to learn to use a stick shift before she can drive the car.
Linda needs is not to settle down and act her age.
Linda needs at least 5 males (this one cracks me up!)
Linda needs to drop by home and pick up her Congo drum to be refaced. (?)
Linda needs sleep. (Yes. This one is definatley me!)
Linda needs a good talkin' to....
Linda needs LARGE CIRCUS TYPE TENTS (and oh yes, the capitals were in there, I didn't do that)

I could not wait until Thankgiving to share this

I found this while blog-surfing today.

And people gave Bill Clinton a hard time because of Monica.....

My two oldest kids when to UMC's Senior High Convo this weekend

Read about Convo here

When they got home I asked each of them how it went.

My son said: I really get sick of people when I have to be around them all the time.

My daughter said: The hotel was the best part. We (4 girls) had a room. And (2 chaperones) had a room. And the whole rest of the floor was the Iowa Hawkeyes Football team!

Not one word about the speakers, or the Audio Adrenaline concert.

Maybe in the days to come?

I doubt it.

He will move on to something else.

And she will give more details of big, cute guys from Iowa
that sing in the halls.

I have spent this weekend prepping, cleaning, priming and painting. Uck! I decided I don't like to paint.
I am working on the upstairs bathroom and the girls' bedroom. I tackled too much, My youngest daughter is my helper, if you can call it helping...lol. She tries. And it sure takes longer with help like that.
I am half done. I think. Bathroom needs another coat. In the bedroom, one more wall paint, one more to prime and paint. It would have been easier If I could have cleared the room instead of pushing everything around. Now everyone knows how unorganized I am!
I will NEVER buy ACE paint again. The it doesnt cover very well. And I am using their "high quality" brushes and rollers.
When the painting is finished I have some new peel and stick tiles for the bathroom. Its a tiny bathoom. I won't need all 2o tiles that came in the box, leaves room for error tho!
I will be so happy to go to work tomorrow to relax!

Update: My kids came home early. My son helped finish up the painting. Was still to stinky to sleep upstairs, so everyone camped on on the living room floor. No tiles laid yet. When I unhooked the sink, my pipes leaked, so I have to wait for the floor to dry out :/

It doesn't surprise me!

In war, there are no unwounded soldiers. ~José Narosky

On this Veteran's Day, lets remember those who have given so much for our freedom.

Iraq is our Vietman now.

"The U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq is an unfolding disaster with such nightmarish consequences that it is easy to be angry with those who are responsible. And Americans are angry. Overwhelming majorities of U.S. citizens now tell pollsters that they believe the decision to go to war was a mistake, and a substantial proportion of them say that the continued occupation of that Middle East land is a fool's mission." from today's Capital Times

Lets try to separate the war from the warriors and honor them.

And remember, no matter where you go, there you are. ~Confucius

Not much exciting happening here:

*Corn is all picked. Price stinks.

*Football team is still in the playoffs. Makes for fun band field trips for the kids.

*No contractor call yet. Grrrrrr. Oh well, with that bad corn price, no $ to pay him anyway! lol Seriously, I think he is waiting until the house is messy again!

*Weather has been beautiful here. Our grass is so green it looks more like spring than fall.

*DD has fewer hours at work(Yeah!). But she has to work Thanksging(Boo). She said she didn't mind sharing her holiday with the residents, if they have to be there, she will be too (Aww...she is so tenderhearted).

*Ordered a new camera. Impatiently waiting.

*Have not scrapped in too long. Need to do that!

*Thinking about throwing half of my scrapping stuff away to clear space to work!

*Son has to get brackets put back on bottom teeth. Sucks to play trumpet with braces.

*Got to see my Stephen Minister lady last week. She is a gem.

*We have a very pregnant cat. Late fall is not a good time for kittens.

*Senior pictures are expensive.

The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited
island. He prayed feverishly for GOD to rescue him, but every day he scanned
the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming.

Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to
protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.

One day, after scavenging for food he arrived home to find his little hut in
flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. The worst had happened, and
everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. "GOD,
how could you do this to me?" he cried.

Early the next day he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was
approaching the island. It had come to rescue him. "How did you know I was
here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they
replied.

It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't
lose heart, because GOD is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain,
and suffering.

Remember that, the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the
ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of GOD.

You May Want To Consider Passing This On, because You Never Know Who Feels
Like Their Hut Is On Fire Today........

My daughter knows I get a kick out of these. She and her friend are keeping me supplied with GW quotes.

Friday, November 04, 2005

Obviously, my lack of sleep these past few months is taking a toll on my sense of humor. I have to share:

There is a factory in northern Minnesota which makes the Tickle Me Elmo toys. The toy laughs when you tickle it under the arm.

Well, Lena is hired at the Tickle Me Elmo Factory and she reports to her first day promptly at 8 a.m.

The next day At 8:45 a.m. there is a knock on the Personnel Manager's door. The foreman from the assembly line throws open the door and begins to rant about the new employee. He complains that she is incredibly slow and the whole line is backing up, putting the entire production line behind schedule.

The personnel manager decides he should see this for himself so the two men march down to the factory floor. When they get there the line is so backed up that there are Tickle Me Elmo's all over the factory floor and they're really beginning to pile up.

At the end of the line stands Lena surrounded by mountains of Tickle Me Elmo's. She has a roll of plush red fabric and a huge bag of small marbles.

The two men watch in amazement as she cuts a little piece of fabric, wraps its around two marbles and begins to carefully sew the little package between Elmo's legs.

The personnel manager burst into laughter. After several minutes of hysterics he pulls himself together and approaches Lena.

"I'm sorry," he says to her, barely able to keep a straight face, "but I think you misunderstood the instructions I gave you yesterday.....

your job is to give Elmo two test tickles."

Redneck humor

Redneck Bubba died in a fire and was burnt pretty bad.
The morgue needed someone to identify the body so his
two best friends, Daryl and Gomer, were sent for.
Daryl went in and the mortician pulled back the sheet.
Daryl said, "Yup, he's burnt pretty bad. Roll him
over." So the mortician rolled him over and Daryl
looked and said, "Nope, ain't Bubba."

The mortician thought that was rather strange, and he
was pretty sure of the body's identity. Gomer was then
brought in to identify the body. Gomer took a look at
him and said, " Yup, he's burnt real bad, roll him
over." The mortician rolled him over and Gomer looked
down and said, "No, it ain't Bubba."

The mortician asked, "How can you tell?" Gomer said,
"Well, Bubba had two a**holes."
"What? He had two a**holes?" said the mortician.
"Yup, everyone knew about it too. Every time we went
to town, folks would say Here comes Bubba with them
two a**holes..."

Happy Weekend!

I was reading this editorial this morning.

Bush,Cheney can't let Libby go to trial

I could not agree more.

I finally got in to get my hair cut. And my roots done. All the nasty white ones are gone...for a while anyway. Its amazing how a little thing like that can lift my spirits when I have been feeling like crap for so long.

My youngest daughter and I made some puppy chow this evening. Its always such a mess. But fun. And yummy.

Football playoffs (band field trip!) and the school play this weekend. Will be nice when I can see my other two kids! Out the door at 7 and not home til 10 or later is too stressful for teenagers, for anyone really.

Still awaiting my contractor. Of course I am not sitting home waiting for his call. Going to visit my Stephen Minister lady tomorrow, after staying away while I was sick. We do burn up the phone lines tho.

Almost as bad as my son and his g/f. He needs to find a g/f that's not long distance.

OH! maybe thats why the contractor never calls!

One should examine oneself for a very long time before thinking of condemning others. ~Moliere

This morning on my daily read of yahoo news I came across this story and it angered me:
Link

The United Methodist Church's Judical Counsel has defrocked a pastor becasue she is gay.

The UMC promotes itself as "Open Hearts. Open Doors."

I don't think so!

Very hypocrital. I was raised as a United Methodist and am still an active member. But this is an embarrassment.
