Night time is really the best time to work. All the ideas are there to be yours because everyone else is asleep. ~Catherine O'Hara

I am a night owl. Who married a dairy farmer. Always up with the sun! What was I thinking?? Anyway, since we sold the cows we do tend to sleep in now...until 6 or even (gasp!) 6:30. But since he works nights sometimes now, I can stay up late. I can crochet and watch QVC or play cribbage all night or post here. I still have to get up at 6...and after a few nights it does catch up with me.

Our church family buried a nice man this weekend. His Warbird buddies flew around yesterday morning and gave him a wonderful send off. He was killed flying his vintage WWII plane...We should all be so lucky to die doing what we love =)

For safety is not a gadget but a state of mind. ~Eleanor Everet

I'm getting desparate for a quote with this one!

Yesterday my sweetie of a husband was out making square bales. One broke in the baler. So he hoped outta the tractor to un-stuck-it. Hmmm. The baler kicked when he was doing this. Thank God his arms took the brunt of it. He has a couple "nice" gashes, a swollen elbow on one side, and forearm on the other. He did'nt know how far it threw him, but he figure it was up in the air quite a ways. And he thought he was lucky he saw where his glasses flew....20 feet away! I think he is lucky it didn't hit him in the head. He was annoyed it crushed his watch.

He was dirty and greasy from working, then all bloody. Yick. I have a weak stomach. I couldnt even look at it until he got cleaned up a bit. Of course he wont go to the doctor. We got big bandaids and anti-botic ointment. I'am not a good nurse, but we got it cleaned up and covered beofre he went back out.

He did say last night, when he couldnt sleep because him arms hurt so much, "Guess I should not have taken those guards off."

*heavy sigh*

Most people run a race to see who is fastest. I run a race to see who has the most guts. ~Steve Prefontaine

There is this amazing man. Jepser Olsen. He is from Denmark. He is trying to become the first man to run around the world. Literally. Amazing!

This is the web page. Check it out, read his daily enties and the media accounts. I suck at links in this blog, so y'all will have to copy and paste

www.worldrun.org

He passed through Wisconsin this week. I got this picture.
He likes local runners to run along with him. I'm sure it gives him a chance to learn about the places he runs through, is good company, and it lets everyday people be a little part of his world record.

My son ran along one day this week. A race one night, regular Cross Country practice at 7am, then the boys went out for breakfast (to kill time...right...teenages boys eat as often as they breath). Then they got to run along with Jesper. How cool is that! It was only a few miles. But it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for him. (my son says next time he will not eat bacon and eggs and pancakes between runs)

The only bad part was I was at work. (nasty four-letter word, isn't it?) So I gave my camera to the CC coach. I got blurry pictures of runners and a really nice clear one of the sidewalk. ho-hum. I got a few leads on some other camera toting moms. I will have to make some calls. The picture at the top I took they day before.

time for a blinkie!

Turn your wounds into wisdom. ~Oprah Winfrey

Oprah is one of my favorites. Even though I hardly ever get to watch her show. I admire her stregth, her attitude, and how she give so much back.

The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself. ~Benjamin Franklin

Ten Things to Remember
by Donna Fargo

1. Look at life as a journey and enjoy the ride. Get the most out of the detours and realize sometimes they are necessary.
2. Do your best, but if what you’ve been doing has caused you discouragement, try a different approach. Be passionate about the process, but don’t be so attached to the outcome.
3. Wish the Best for everyone, with no personal strings. Applaud someone else’s win as much as you would your own.
4. Trust that there is a divine plan, that we don’t always know what’s best for us. A disappointment now could mean a victory later, so don’t be disappointed. There is usually a reason.
5. Ask no more of yourself than the best that you can do, and be satisfied with that. Be compassionate toward yourself as well as others. Know your calling, your gift, and do it well.
6. Don’t worry about something after its done; it’s out of your hands then, too late. OVER! Learn the lesson and move on.
7. Have the attitude that no one, except you, owes you anything. Give without expecting a thank you in return. But when someone does something for you, be appreciative of even the smallest gesture.
8. Choose your thoughts or your thoughts will choose you; they will free you or keep you bound. Educate your spirit and give it authority over your feelings.
9. Judge no one, and disappointment and forgiveness won’t be an issue. No one can let you down if you are not leaning on them. People can’t hurt you unless you allow them too.
10. Love anyway…for no reason…and give…just because.

Once you choose hope, anything's possible. ~Christopher Reeve

He was a remarkable man. Married to an equally amazing woman. Don't know what made me think of him today.

If they can put one man on the moon why can't they put them all there? ~Chocolate Waters

Ok! Today is Tuesday and every Tuesday my boss comes over. He is a really nice guy, but sometimes he is just silly.

He gets all excited when the company comes out with new products. Today he had a sample:

"OK Linda, you gotta do this. Stick your finger in here."
So I did. Lovely. Iodine. Skin conditioners. AND! It doesnt drip.

I have to smile cuz he is so darn excited about it.

I said "Is my finger gonna be stained now?"

His mouth drops open. He is disappointed that I don't get that excited about teat dip. "Well...I guess you can wash it off"

So he follows me. INTO the bathroom. Still telling me how "velvetly smooth it is" Now the sink is iodine stained too! So he stands there for a few minutes in the door way. Them blushes and leaves. What a goof!

I have this friend, Den. He always calls me a nut. The minute I saw this blinky I knew it was made for him!

I love writing. I love the swirl and swing of words as they tangle with human emotions. ~James Michener

I thought I would write more when I started this blog. Summer is just so busy! Add in a bit of an "off" comment after one of my posts that gave the mom-in-me a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. So I stayed away for a bit. I would like to get back on track.

Its been sweltering here. High temperatures and humidity are not fun. Makes me sweaty doing nothing! I brought the clothes in from the clothesline yesterday, if they had not been so stiff you would have thought they had come straight from the dryer! We have had some wonderful rains. And thankfully, not bad storms. I swear the corn signed. I should drag my camera on an evening walk and get some shots of my ears!

I have been enjoying reading other peoples blogs. Thanks for all the great work! Keep it up. (Gives me something to do when its slow! )

Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted. ~John Lennon

Yippee! Its Friday. I am looking forward to the weekend! Work has been crazy-busy lately. We have no big plans for the weekend. The kids have to work at a concession stand for a fundraiser. MYF is always trying to raise $$. but there is no better place for my kids than church. Right?

Happy weekend!

Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet. ~Roger Miller

Welcomed wonderful rains the past two morning here. The corn is at a critical state, tassling and making ears. Did y'all here the collective sign of relief from every farmer in Wisconsin?

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion. ~Dalai Lama

I get daily devotionals from the Upper Room each morning. This is today's. Amazing how a few paragraphs can speak volumes.

IT was the last day of the writers conference I was
attending. A man working feverishly at his computer in
the conference bookstore was trying to get his
inventory completed before checkout time. It was a warm,
humid day, and the expression on his weary face spoke
volumes.

Suddenly I felt a gentle nudging to ask him if he'd
like a cup of water. "Yes, that would be wonderful. I
think that's just what I need," he replied. He said a
quick thank-you as I set the cup down beside him. I
had totally forgotten about the incident when, a few
days later, he sent me a lovely thank-you poem. He
told me that the cup of cold water, at that precise
moment, was a gift of immeasurable worth.

At first I was astounded that such a small gesture
could make such an impact. But the more I thought about
it, the more I began to recall some of the many ways
God has unexpectedly refreshed me in times past --
groceries that arrived on our doorstep when my husband was
laid off, a close friend's words of encouragement
during a difficult trial. And it was then I realized that
small cups of water aren't so small after all.

Prayer: Thank you, God, for your living water and all
the ways you refresh us every day. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
For someone in need, little becomes much.

There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots. The other is wings. ~Hodding Carter, Jr.

Okey dokey. Over the weekend my daughter turned 18. 18! I can't believe it! I am much to young to be the mom of a voting age person. Aren't I? Like turning 40 wasn't a big enough blow! haha!

It was about this hot when she was born too. She was in no hurry to arrive. I was in labor for over 80 hours. Yuck! She was such a good baby, slept all night right away. I think being 9# had something to do with that!

She is still a good kid. High Honors (taking tough classes), busy with Forensics and Yearbook, active in church activities. She even has the patience to teach me how to do blinkies before blogger made it easy!

Happy Birthday Al!

He is rich or poor according to what he is, not according to what he has. ~Henry Ward Beecher
